My name is Shanik Tanna.
I’m a creative producer, filmmaker, and community builder based in Toronto.

I’m interested in how people gather, make, and share — and in creating the conditions for those moments to feel meaningful.

I’m the founder of Recess Community, a grassroots creative studio. My role blends curation, production, and visual storytelling, designing experiences that are warm, intentional, and collaborative.

From 2018–2023, I was a Senior Creative Producer at Shopify, developing video, photography, and campaigns for the global developer and partner community. I led projects end-to-end — from creative direction and production management to cross-functional collaboration and delivery.

Alongside client and community work, I run a creative production and mentorship practice, helping artists, small businesses, and independent creatives shape their stories, build sustainable workflows, and connect with their audiences.

My own creative exploration spans film, photography, sound, and interactive installations. I’m drawn to projects that blur boundaries between disciplines, invite curiosity, and leave room for quiet moments.
